Host a tournament in Porto
MCC needs a venue for each of its three Porto grounds, in Matosinhos, Gondomar and Villa Nova de Gaia. Taking on a ground means staging a 5-a-side competition of as many as 128 amateur teams through April and May 2027; MCC provides the format, entries and prize fund. If you manage futsal halls or artificial pitches in the Porto region, here is what hosting involves.
What hosting a Porto ground asks of a venue
A host supplies pitch time for the group stage over three April weekends, then for the playoffs from 30 April and the final on 9 May. Matches use 40-minute slots, so how many pitches a site can open on those days sets the ground's size, from 64 teams to 128. Rules, draw and officials sit on MCC's side.
Which part of the Porto region a site covers
Matosinhos covers the north-west coast, Gondomar the east along the Douro, and Villa Nova de Gaia the south bank. Each ground gets exactly one confirmed venue, and a venue applies for the area its site lies in. The two bridges and the metro mark the lines between the areas.
Applying from the Douro
Applications go through the pitch owner form. MCC confirms one venue per ground and signs an agreement with it. After that, the Porto page shows the venue name for each, and the live cards mark which grounds already have one confirmed.
Questions from Porto venues
Can a parish or club pavilion host a Porto ground?
Yes, through the same pitch owner application as any other site, indoor or outdoor. Matches run in 40-minute slots on the fixture dates, and a Porto ground draws between 64 and 128 teams.
My site is in Maia or Valongo. Which ground do I choose?
The grounds are areas of the Porto region. Choose the one nearest your site, which for Maia is probably Matosinhos and for Valongo Gondomar, and say where you are on the form.
Who recruits referees and supplies the teams?
MCC handles both. Teams enter on this site, and officials and crew are recruited through the join page, never appointed by teams, so a site hosts the matches in 40-minute slots and nothing more.
