Host a tournament in Zurich

Each of Zurich's North, East and South grounds needs one venue, so MCC wants three in total. The venue stages a Pitch Round of 64 to 128 amateur teams, with fixtures from 9 April and a final on 9 May 2027. Owners of small-sided pitches or halls around Zurich can read the role here.

What hosting a Zurich ground involves

A Zurich ground runs groups on three April weekends, knockouts from 30 April and a closing final on 9 May. Matches are played in 40-minute slots, so a site with a handful of small pitches can fit a full ground of 128 teams, and a ground may begin with as few as 64.

Which parts of Zurich each ground covers

North Zurich takes in Oerlikon, Seebach and Affoltern. East Zurich covers Schwamendingen, Hirslanden and the lakeside districts. South Zurich covers Wiedikon, Enge, Wollishofen and Albisrieden. A pitch owner looks at the map, finds the area that holds the site and puts the site forward for that ground.

How a Zurich venue applies

The route in is the MCC pitch owner application. MCC confirms one venue for North, East and South Zurich each and signs an agreement with that owner. After the signature the venue is named on the Zurich page, where teams from the three areas can see it.

Questions from Zurich venue owners

Does a Zurich venue have to be outdoors?

The brief for a venue is to host matches in 40-minute slots on the fixture dates, within its ground's area of Zurich. Nothing in it says outdoors or indoors, so an operator with small pitches of any kind can come forward.

Can a site outside the city centre host a Zurich ground?

Yes. The grounds are areas of the city, and a venue in Oerlikon or Wollishofen fits its ground as well as a central one. Teams choose the ground closest to them.

Who supplies the teams and the match officials?

MCC does. Teams register on the MCC site, and officials (a referee, two assistants and a fourth official) and crew are recruited through the join page. Venues and teams never appoint them.
